This is the finish hardwood floors, stain grade cabinets that have been painted brilliant white along with a new solid surface Corian countertop by Artisan Specialties. |
Here is a before picture showing the old style laminated countertops, the dull shine on the cabinets and old vinyl flooring. We have just started to take off the shoe molding in preparation to installing the ¾ inch hardwood. There were so many squeaks in the floor that we needed to screw down the existing floor sheeting, along with installing two dropped headers under the floor joyce system to help straighten out the floor before the hardwood was laid. We let all hardwood acclimate for three days before being installation. |

This picture is of the bay window area before our painters changed it to a brilliant white color. There is a big difference in finding a contractor who is capable in renovating a home with people living in it while the work in being preformed. Artisan Specialties will give you the personal attention that you would expect in a situation where you have to access your refrigerator or cloths washer to keep your family in a semi normal state while we change your old home into something new and exciting! |

The finish bay window area. The Home Owner wanted to keep the existing wallpaper in the dining room and kitchen areas to help cut down on the expense of the renovation. |

How many well built old homes have the laminated countertops still in them? Answer, A WHOLE LOT!! There are many fine old homes in South Carolina. The problem is that they have outdated countertops, fixtures, electrical and plumbing systems. The old laminated countertops have square edges on the backsplash letting that grease and grime find a hard to reach place that you have to find a way to clean. Hint, toothpicks may help, along with allot of elbow grease. |
Here is another picture of the old style laminated countertop and stainless steel sink. I do love the wallpaper the Owners used in the kitchen, and can see why they decided to keep it rather than changing. Why change something that looks great? Waist of money not to mention the time involved in removing and applying new wallpaper! |
You can see from this picture how a new Corian countertop can make a old kitchen look bran new! Not only does it bring new life to something old, you have no place for that dirt and grime to hide! The only thing that is missing is changing out the outlets and switches to match the white cover plates. The Owner decided to do this himself to help save some money. Just had not gotten to it by the time we had taken these pictures. Artisan Specialties can do a turn key job for you, or let you do what ever work you feel comfortable with to help you save money also! |

You can tell by this picture that we worked closely with the Owners, letting them use the old sink prior to the removal and up fitting for the new Corian countertop and sink. Artisan Specialties will do our very best in working around your families everyday needs also. Just give us a call today for your free estimate. |

Just in case you can't remember what that old stainless steel sink looked like. Remember how the lip of the sink collected the same dirt and grime in those hard to reach places as that laminated countertop? Yep, looks like it may be time for you to pull out those toothpicks if you still have a sink like this. |
What a beautiful difference a Corian countertop and sink can make! A Solid surface countertop where no grease or grime can hide. A beautiful white Corian, under the countertop sink so you can just sweep those vegetables right into your garbage disposal with no problem at all. I loved the color the Owners chose with their countertop. It really helped to brighten up the whole kitchen. They picked out the faucet for the sink over the Internet, along with all the cabinet door and drawer pulls. Not only can you find fixtures for your kitchen on the net when you can find them no where else, but you can find an old dusty builder who does allot of the work himself. |

Not a more beautiful thing exists like the way a Corian sink and Corian countertop complement each other. Except for the money you might save over a granite or marble countertop. ;-) "wink" |
In this picture you can see the old style cook top and laminated countertop. I know most of us, or at least those of my generation, grew up with this type of cook top and countertop. |
Here you can see the new solid surface cook top and Corian solid surface countertop. The copper tube laying against the base cabinet is the water supply line for the refrigerator. |
This is a close up view of the new solid surface cook top. It will be nice to just have to wipe your cook top off to clean it. Beats having to take those old eyes off and clean the inside where you might have had that boil over. |
With a new Corian countertop you do not ever want to cut on it. You never have to worry about that if you have a cutting board made out of the same material that your countertop is made of. What a way to complement your new countertop and save it from those sharp knives. That is if your children listen to you. |

IMPORTANT How many contractors, and people who call themselves builders never fur out the top of the cabinets when installing a new floor in the kitchen? Artisan Specialties installed ¾ inch hardwood flooring for this renovation. If we did not fur out the top of the kitchen base cabinets the Owners could not have removed their dishwasher if it broke, or needed maintenance where it had to be removed. Plus their cabinets would have been ¾ of an inch shorter than they were used to! |
Furring out of the cabinets prior to painting and installation of the Corian countertops. |
Whoever built the original cabinets in the house never installed a face stile over the hole for the dishwasher. This meant that the person who installed the dishwasher had no place to install their anchor screws. The Owner’s were wondering why their dishwasher kept on tipping out when they pulled the racks out to load the dirty dishes. Artisan Specialties fixed this problem with the furring out of the base cabinets. Screws installed. Problem corrected like it should have been in the beginning. |
If you click on the thumbnail picture you will see the reflection of the copper supply line to the refrigerator in the hardwood floor. Now that is a shiny floor. If you would like us to do the same type of work for your home renovations, all it takes is a phone call. This is a HIGH GLOSS finish. Good thing is it shines like crazy. Bad thing it will show dirt a whole lot more in your high traffic areas. The choice of coarse is yours. |
The hardwood flooring is one of the best complements to these brilliant white cabinets. Truly a beautiful job. A renovation to be proud of, for my company and the Owners of this beautiful home. I'm very glad they allowed me to put their pictures on the Internet, and have trusted my company with their home! |

Who has ever had a supply line break to their cloths washer? When we moved the Owners washing machine out of the way to build an emergency spill over, we found that one of the old supply line hoses had a large bubble in it. This happens sometimes right before the line breaks. When we re-installed their cloths washer we used high strength flex steel supply lines. That along with this emergency spill over should help prevent any future damage that my occur as long as they are in their home. |
